There are three main types of kit car insurance available:

Comprehensive kit car insurance
Comprehensive car insurance gives you the cover that Third Party, Fire and Theft offers and in addition, accidental damage to your own car.

Third Party, Fire and Theft kit car insurance
This gives you the basic cover that covers you if others claim against you for damage to their car, themselves or their property. In addition covers your own vehicle for fire and theft.

Third Party Only kit car insurance
This type of insurance is not usally available for kit cars and includes the legal minimum requirements and little more. It covers you if others claim against you for damage to their car, themselves or their property. Importantly, your own vehicle is not covered for damage, theft or fire.

Please note that the level of cover varies depending on your insurance companies terms and conditions and will almost certainly be subject to an excess, which is the amount that you may have to pay towards your repairs or loss.
